Exceed ZIP Errors

Exceed ZIP Error 503

Exceed ZIP Error 503 indicates a bad connection to our host computer. You may get this error when trying to send a transmission, receive acknowledgements or download and install updates. To correct this issue, please try the following:

  • Switch Your Internet Transmission Type: From the Main Menu of the program, select:
    • Configuration
    • Communications Setup
    • Internet Transmission Type – If the current setting is HTTP, change it to FTP. If the current setting is FTP, change it to HTTP.
    • Attempt to connect to our host computer
  • Reboot your modem and computer: You may need to reboot your modem to clear communications between it and your ISP, or your router. Before you reboot your modem and computer, make sure that you save your work and close any open programs. First, turn your modem off and unplug it from the wall. Next, turn off your computer. Wait at least 30 seconds, and turn the computer back on. When the computer has booted back up, plug the modem in, and let it synchronize. Attempt to connect to our host computer.

Exceed ZIP Error 517

Exceed ZIP Error 517 indicates an incomplete download. You may get this error when trying to send a transmission, receive acknowledgements or download and install updates. To correct this issue, please try the following:

  • Switch Your Internet Transmission Type: From the Main Menu of the program, select:
    • Configuration
    • Communications Setup
    • Internet Transmission Type – If the current setting is HTTP, change it to FTP. If the current setting is FTP, change it to HTTP.
    • Attempt to connect to our host computer
  • Reboot your modem and computer: You may need to reboot your modem to clear communications between it and your ISP, or your router. Before you reboot your modem and computer, make sure that you save your work and close any open programs. First, turn your modem off and unplug it from the wall. Next, turn off your computer. Wait at least 30 seconds, and turn the computer back on. When the computer has booted back up, plug the modem in, and let it synchronize. Attempt to connect to our host computer.
  • Delete the Update and attempt to download it again – Use this option only if you received the error when downloading or installing an update. To delete an update, you will need to access your My Computer or Computer settings.
    • Double-click on the drive where the TaxSlayer Pro program is installed
    • Double-click on the TaxSlayer folder
    • Double-click on the 20XX folder (2012, 2011, 2010 etc).
    • Double-click on the 20XXUPD folder
    • Find the update(s) that you were downloading when you received the error. You will need to delete the update using the list below to help you identify the name of the update file. Once the file has been deleted attempt to connect to our host computer and download/install the update(s).

Exceed ZIP Error 527 indicates a bad connection to our host computer. You may get this error when trying to send a transmission, receive acknowledgements or download and install updates. To correct this issue, please try the following:

  • Switch Your Internet Transmission Type: From the Main Menu of the program, select:
    • Configuration
    • Communications Setup
    • Internet Transmission Type – If the current setting is HTTP, change it to FTP. If the current setting is FTP, change it to HTTP.
    • Attempt to connect to our host computer
  • Reboot your modem and computer: You may need to reboot your modem to clear communications between it and your ISP, or your router.
