If there is a previous year of Keystone Tax Solutions Pro installed, or if prior year return data from another tax software package was converted for use in the current year, the prior year data will pull forward when you enter a client’s SSN into the current year’s program.
When you start a return by entering a SSN, you will be asked Do you want to create a new return using the information from last year? Answer YES to pull forward certain prior year information.
If the information is not pulling forward and you are running Keystone Tax Solutions Pro in a network, test the SSN on the computer designated as the File Server. If the SSN was entered correctly and the data is still not pulling forward, verify the configuration setting for the prior year path. From the opening screen of Keystone Tax Solutions Pro select:
- Configuration
- Path Menu
- Prior Path
If the program is installed on the C drive, the prior path should be C:\Keystone Tax Solutions\20xxNet\Data, where xx is the two-digit prior year. (The prior path and the current year installation path must be on the same drive.)
If you are still unable to pull the return forward, go back to the prior year software and verify you can access the return. Go into the return, exit, and return to the Main Menu of the prior year program. Try to pull the return forward in the current year program again. If the problem persists, contact Technical Support.
NOTE: When pulling from the TaxesToGo App, pulling the data forward will disable the App features.
