To access the Advanced Configuration Menu, from the Main Menu of Keystone Tax Solutions Pro select:
- Configuration
- Advanced Configuration (Macros)
MACRO (Most Common) Setup – Click for more information.
Special Attention Database – Click for more information.
Database Management – Click for more information.
Display Settings – Click for more information.
EIC Due Diligence Configuration – There are two options under this menu:
- Print 8867 Due Diligence Notes with Return – If set to Yes, the Due Diligence Notes will print along with the rest of the return.
- Show Additional Due Diligence Documentation When Exiting Return? – If set to Yes, the Additional Due Diligence Documentation checklist will display when exiting the return if it hasn’t been completed, forcing its completion before the return can be exited.
Use Head of Household Worksheet? – If set to YES, when the Head of Household filing status is chosen in a return, the program will walk you through the Head of Household worksheet to help you determine if your client qualifies for Head of Household status.
Method Used to Call Adobe Acrobat – The default method is “Shell”. If you are having problems printing PDFs from within Keystone Tax Solutions Pro, try changing the method to DLL or Exe. If you continue to experience problems, contact Technical Support.
Type of Prior Taxable State Refund to Pull – The default method is ‘Net Taxable State Refund’. This method pulls the net state taxable amount to the income menu if applicable. If you wish to pull the total taxable amount to the income menu select ‘Total Taxable State Refund’.
Ask to unlock return awaiting acknowledgement – If set to YES, when opening a return you are prompted that the return has been transmitted and the acknowledgement is not back.
Ask to unlock accepted return – If set to YES, you are queried when opening an accepted return.
Ask if 7216 Disclosure Authorization Signed – Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code contains regulations regarding use and disclosure of tax return information by tax preparers. If you offer other services to your clients, such as refund anticipation loans, mortgages, or insurance, you must have your clients sign a Consent To Use and Consent To Disclose forms before they may be contacted regarding other services. The 7216 consent forms are not posted on the IRS website; you can create your own or use the sample forms provided in Keystone Tax Solutions Pro. In order to comply with the regulations you should have each client sign a 7216 Disclosure Authorization prior to sharing or using their information to promote other financial products or services.
If set to YES, a message will appear upon exiting the tax return reminding you to have the client sign the form if applicable.
Note: In Keystone Tax Solutions Pro, you won’t be asked about consent forms if you aren’t offering bank products.
Manage Custom 7216s – In addition to the Form 7216 Disclosure Authorization included with the software, you can create your own here.
Ask For Dependent Care Benefits on W-2 Add – If set to YES, the program will include the Dependent Care Benefits section of the W-2 if you use the Enter key on the keyboard to navigate through the fields. If set to NO, the program will skip this section of the W-2 and you will need to click in the box to enter amounts for Dependent Care Benefits.
Pull Prior Year Client Notes Forward – There are three options for pulling client notes forward:
- Automatically Pull Forward – This option will include all client notes when a prior year client’s tax return information is pulled forward.
- Ask To Pull Forward – This option will prompt you to pull prior year client notes forward.
- Do Not Pull Forward – Client notes will not pull forward, and you will not be notified of prior year notes.
Ask to Exit Main Menu (2018 and prior) – This option is useful if you use the keyboard to navigate through the program rather than the mouse. If set to YES, when you press Enter at the Main Menu, you will be prompted to confirm that you really want to exit the program. (Note: If you click the red X at the top right corner of the program window when you are at the Main Menu, you are not prompted for confirmation.)
Display Client List when Exiting a Return (2018 and prior) – If set to YES, if a return was started or edited from the Client List, then the Client List will display after exiting the return. If set to NO, you are returned to the Main Menu after exiting the return. Because the 7216 Consent to Disclose query is displayed when initially entering the Client List, this question being set to YES means that you will not get the 7216 query each time you create a new return. Set this to NO if you want the 7216 query to display every time you create a new return.
Preparer Code is Required to Complete a Return – If set to YES, a preparer code must be indicated in the Personal Information section of a return in order to mark the return complete.
