The Name & Address Menu displays all previously entered information for the taxpayer and spouse. All information on this screen can be altered by simply selecting the line item you wish to change.
Dependent on Another Return – If someone else (such as a parent) is claiming the taxpayer as a dependent on their tax return, indicate this by selecting, Dependent on Another Return and selecting ‘YES’.
- The taxpayer cannot claim an exemption for themselves if they can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, even if the other taxpayer does not actually claim them.
- If the taxpayer can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, they cannot claim anyone else as a dependent, even if they have a qualifying child or relative.
- If the taxpayer is filing a joint return, and the spouse can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, they cannot claim any dependents on their joint return
SSN Not Valid for EIC – If the taxpayer’s and/or spouse’s SSN is not valid for Earned Income Credit (EIC) purposes, select SSN Not Valid for EIC then select Yes.
Blind – If the taxpayer and/or spouse is blind on the last day of the tax year and they are not itemizing deductions, an increased standard deduction applies. To qualify, the taxpayer and/or spouse must be partially or totally blind. If partially blind, a certified statement from an eye doctor or registered optometrist stating that the taxpayer’s vision is not better than 20/200 in his/her better eye with glasses or contact lenses, or that the taxpayer’s field of vision is 20 degrees or less and that this eye condition is not likely to improve must be retained by the taxpayer.
Deceased – If the taxpayer and/or spouse are deceased, enter their date of death. The date of death will print at the top of Form 1040 along with the word ‘Deceased’.
Student – If the taxpayer and/or spouse is a full time student during the tax year, select Student then select YES.
Campaign Fund – The Presidential Election Campaign Fund reduces candidates’ dependence on large contributions from individuals and groups and places candidates on an equal financial footing in the general election. If the taxpayer wants $3 to go to this fund, mark it here. If filing a joint return, the spouse can also have $3 go to the fund. The taxpayer’s tax due or refund will not change if they make the election.
Driver’s License – Enter driver’s license or other ID information in the menu fields. The information entered in the driver’s license menu will carry to the bank product application if applicable as well as to any state returns that are prepared.
ID Protection Pin – If the taxpayer or spouse was issued an Identity Protection Pin from the IRS, enter the pin in the ID Protection Pin field. The identity protection pin will print on Schedule 6 of the tax return. The IRS will reject any electronically filed tax return that does not include an identity protection pin issued to a taxpayer, their spouse or their dependents.
In Care Of – This field will automatically populate with the name of the spouse, or the person filing Form 1310 for a deceased taxpayer. If someone other than the spouse is manually entered on this line, their name will print above the taxpayer’s address on page 1 of Form 1040.
Address – Enter the address of the taxpayer’s current residence. If the taxpayer has a P.O. Box, enter the P.O. box number on the line for the current home address. If the taxpayer’s current residence is a foreign address, place a check mark in the Foreign Address box and fill in the foreign address in the spaces provided.
Telephone – Up to three telephone numbers can be entered for the taxpayer. The program automatically assigns the numbers as ‘Telephone Number 1, 2, and 3’. In the Configuration Menu, these can be customized to Home, Work, Cell or any naming convention you prefer. To customize the phone descriptions, from the Main Menu of Keystone Tax Solutions Pro select:
- Configuration > Advanced Configuration (Macros) > MACRO (Most Common) Setup > Phone Descriptions > Enter the phone descriptions for phone numbers 1, 2, and 3. The descriptions will carry back to the Name & Address Menu.
E-Mail/Spouse E-Mail Address -Enter the taxpayer’s and/or spouse’s e-mail address. Entering this information gives you another way to contact your clients.
Military Address – If the taxpayer has a different address than their current permanent address, enter this address here. For example, if the military member is stationed overseas, but their permanent address is in the United States, enter their permanent address in the main address section and their overseas address in Military Address.
