Keystone Tax Solutions Pro enables you to retrieve a backup copy of returns that were electronically filed using our servers for the current year and three prior years. (Since we do not have access to your paper-filed returns, we cannot supply a backup copy of those.)
Step 1. Log in to your Account Hub. From the Main Menu of Account Hub select:
- Username (Top-Right Portion Of Screen)
- Support Tools
- Return Recovery
Highlight and copy the code that displays on the screen.
Step 2. Open Keystone Tax Solutions Pro. From the Main Menu select Updates and ensure the program is fully up to date. Doing this will obviate potential errors that can occur in Step 4.
Step 3. From the Main Menu of Keystone Tax Solutions Pro select:
- Utilities
- Additional Utilities
- Download E-Filed Individual Returns
or
Download E-Filed Business Returns
Paste or enter the code from Account Hub into the Recovery Code field. Next to Download Returns for choose either Preparer (to recover returns for the preparer showing in the Your Name field, prepopulated with your name but can be changed to another preparer) or Office (all preparers). Click Ok.
In the resulting list, to recover all missing returns click Download All Missing at the bottom of the list. Otherwise, to recover a specific return, click the download arrow to the right of the return.
If no list of returns to be recovered was produced …
- If you chose Preparer, ensure the name is spelled correctly.
- If you chose Preparer, try Office.
- If no returns show for the Office, did your EFIN change? If so, will need to temporarily change the Transmitter EFIN in the program Configuration back to the old EFIN to recover the return.
- Ensure that you have an internet connection.
Step 4. Once you have finished the recovery process, return to the Main Menu. If you downloaded Individual returns, select:
- Utilities
- Repair Tax Return Pick List
If you downloaded Business returns, select:
- Business
- Business Utilities
- Repair Tax Return Pick List
After this step, the recovered return(s) will be available in the Client List.
