Why No EIC Calculated

Keystone Tax Solutions Pro runs a series of EIC eligibility tests in each tax return based on the information that is entered.  If it is determined that the taxpayer is not eligible to claim the EIC, a statement is generated in the return to help you determine why.  From the Main Menu of the Tax Return (Form 1040) select:

  • View Results
  • ‘Why No EIC Calculated’

The statement will display the ‘Possible Reasons Why Taxpayer Does Not Qualify for EIC’, indicated with an ‘X’ as to which reason(s) apply to your client’s return.  If there is anything listed on this form other than the ‘EIC Checklist was not Answered Correctly’you will not be able to access the EIC menu, because the client has already been deemed ineligible.  If the EIC checklist was not answered correctly and the return is eligible for EIC, you can access the questions from the Main Menu of the Tax Return (Form 1040) by selecting:

  • Payments, Estimates, EIC
  • Earned Income Credit
  • Complete Schedule EIC
