If you are experiencing network issues, it is important to contact us before the tax season begins so we can ensure that your computers are working properly in time for the season. Networking calls are time consuming, so it is important to call us with these issues when you have the time to devote to it.
If you have a network that has not been running properly all season, it can become difficult to retrieve the return data and determine which computer(s) have the wrong data, and can also result in inaccurate reports within the Keystone Tax Solutions Pro program. If you have a technician that normally assists you with this process, we will be happy to speak with them on your behalf to make sure that the Keystone Tax Solutions Pro program is networked appropriately.
We do not recommend the use of wireless networks due to their inherent security and reliability issues.
Keystone Tax Solutions Pro does not limit the number of computers that can be networked. However, the Windows operating system used by the transmitting computer does have restrictions on the number of connections that can be established.
The following operating systems support up to 20 network connections:
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 10
NOTE: These numbers are the MAXIMUM number of network connections permitted for each operating system. Depending on the software installed and running on the computer, the actual number of computer that can connect might be LESS than the maximum listed.
A true server using Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016, or Windows Server 2019 is not required to run the Keystone Tax Solutions Pro program on a network. These types of operating systems are only needed when there are more connected workstations which will be accessing the data on the transmitting computer than the operating system of the transmitting computer will support. This is a Windows operating system limitation.
